p.e.a.c.h. Farm Stands and Farmers Market Locations

Goats for Sale

A big Thank You to CHEF for the matching grant helping us get water to the crops on our non-profit community farm!

This is our first season on our new farm and we are building our water infrastructure to grow 25,000 pound of produce this season. With the help of supportive people like you, we have been able to install an irrigation line to our 0.7-acre irrigated market garden and finally on June 27 we were able to turn on the sprinklers for the first time (pictured).

Here’s how you can help:

Please Donate Money
p.e.a.c.h. was offered a $5000 challenge grant by the Comprehensive Health Education Foundation to help fund our irrigation project. We made the match! Thanks to all who contributed. This means that every dollar you contributed was matched (doubling your money) providing $10,000 for our water system. Does this mean we don't need any more donations for the irrigation system? No, we still need money for our drip lines and for transporting and installing the 10,000 gallon water tank that has been donated. All this irrigation construction is costing a lot of money, so we are asking you to please contribute to the irrigation fund. Won't you please?

  • 1,550 gallon water tank from Big-R cost $625 - Donated by SRHD!
  • 10,000 water storage reservoir  - In the works. We've been donated a tank and it's going to take some $$ to install.

  • Hundreds of bales of straw to mulch the bed @ $2.00 ea. - Please give.

Our goal is to increase local organic food production that will be consumed by residents in Spokane County. We employ low-income youth, train farmers, run children’s programs and sell the food we grow at 40% off to low-income folks in Spokane neighborhoods. We are launching a new farmers market called the Community Roots Market. This new market is designed to serve the low-income community because vendors pledge to sell to low-income customers at well below the price they can get at other markets in the region. This market will be located at the North East Community Center 4001 N Cook in Hillyard and will be open every Wednesday from 4-7 pm from July 7th to October 27th

Miracles happen daily for us here at p.e.a.c.h. The newest miracle is that we have been offered the opportunity to purchase an historic 30-acre piece of lovely farmland to be the new home base for the "Our Fresh Future for Spokane" Community Farms and Gardens project.  We are jumping for joy and busy as bees since we moved our main operations one last time to our new dream farm.  This new farm will be the first parcel of land to go into the newly forming p.e.a.c.h. Farmland Trust so that the land will be protected and preserved forever to grow food, one of our most precious resources, as we all learn to live sustainably here in Spokane.  We have an incredible and growing array of workshops, Farm Camp sessions and other gatherings scheduled at the new 30-acre p.e.a.c.h. Community Farm at Pine Meadow. We're located at 10425 S. Andrus, Cheney, WA 99004. See our list of upcoming events to the left. You can also volunteer! Click on the "Volunteer" tab at the top. We hope to see you out here soon. See the Map How to Find Us.

Home Page

Welcome to the new P.E.A.C.H. website. It's still under construction. Some links might not work and some content needs to be added, but we're working on it. Pardon our dust.

P.E.A.C.H. Mission

P.E.A.C.H. is dedicated to creating a sustainable local economy and increasing food security with the production of fresh local safe food and making this food accessible for all residents, regardless of income.

P.e.a.c.h. is launching a new food system model right here in Spokane County. Yes, that sounds all technical but basically we have come up with a smart way that gets lots of local food produced and eaten right here.

We are creating a network of non-profit Community Farms and Gardens in the Spokane region. A major goal for p.e.a.c.h. is to use this non-profit agricultural network to produce nutritious, fresh organic produce and make it available at below market cost to the region's low-income population. See a graphic representation of this new food network.

p.e.a.c.h. has secured a 30-acre farm that will serve as the anchor farm for our Community Farms & Gardens network and as the home of the p.e.a.c.h.  Farm Camp and the p.e.a.c.h. Farm School. Our intention is to convert our new home into a multi-use facility including intensive, no-till organic vegetable production, pastured poultry, a goat dairy, a commercial kitchen, student housing and classroom space. To assist us making this vision a reality, you can become a Friend of the p.e.a.c.h. Community Farm. Your support keeps us going.

We offer two Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs:
1) Weekly produce fresh from the farm that you can pick up at a location near your home. More Info...
2) Strong, healthy plant starts that we grow for your home garden, delivered three times during the season to help you maximize your home garden production. More Info...

PEACH Farm School of Small-Scale Sustainable Agriculture

The Farm School located on the grounds of the first p.e.a.c.h. Community Farm will provide farm-based education for enrolled apprentices, some of whom will live on-site, as well as the community at large. It will teach enrolled apprentices small-scale, sustainable farming skills based on a comprehensive curriculum. In addition, the Farm School will host thousands of area school children, high school kids and college students for working field trips. The Farm School will be a focal point for strengthening a regional sense of community through weekly potlucks, on going classes for local food and gardening enthusiasts and cultural events

Farm HANDS (Helpers and Stewards)

Our Farm Hands program redirects non-payroll labor hours that already exist in the community into local food production. We work with the Department of Correction, Juvenile Justice, Welfare to Work programs, churches, youth groups, boy scouts, universities and regular volunteers like you. In 2009 we worked with 630 volunteers and in 2010 we will need several thousand volunteers. Come out on November 21st and find out how you can lend a hand.

Young Organic Urban Farmers (YOUF)

YOUF is a new p.e.a.c.h. program launching in the spring of 2010. We will select a handful of low-income youth and give them jobs for the season on the farm. These youth will plant, harvest, and market produce to their own neighborhoods.

p.e.a.c.h. Land Bank and Farmland Trust

p.e.a.c.h. maintains a land bank consisting of arable parcels made available by local landowners who are willing to let the Our Fresh Future project farm their land. We continually seek additional landowners to add parcels to the Land Bank.

We actively endeavor to acquire land bank parcels through outright purchase, purchase of the development rights or by donations and bequests. These parcels become part of the p.e.a.c.h. Farmland Trust. Any land acquired by the trust is protected from non-agrarian development and preserved in perpetuity as an agricultural resource through a binding stewardship agreement and a working management plan maintained by p.e.a.c.h. Trust parcels remain part of the Land Bank.

p.e.a.c.h. Neighborhood Farm Stands

Another new program for the 2010 season are the neighborhood farm stands. One evening a week in West Central, Hillyard, One World Caf Community Garden, the YMCA on Monroe, and on the South Hill that has yet to be sited, p.e.a.c.h. community farm produce will be for sale. If you have a food stamp card (now also known as a SNAP card) you will get a steep savings when you by your fresh local farm products at one of the stands. If you pay regular price then you will know your money goes back into the program to help feed your low-income neighbors!

Annual Tomato Plant Give-Away

In the spring we grow several thousand tomato plants on our PEACH Permacuture Farm. We give these plants to low income families with a goal of encouraging these folks to grow their own food. We select seeds that can be easily saved and pass this information along with the gift of these plants.
